The great value Seat Altea may be getting on a bit now, unveiled in 2003 and able to trace its roots right back to the Salsa concept car from the 2000 Geneva show, but that doesn’t mean it’s any less relevant. Even the introduction of the excellent Alhambra full-size MPV doesn’t detract from this car’s appeal.

Much like the Renault Scenic which started the compact MPV craze, the Altea is available in both standard and XL variants – though unlike its rival the larger Altea still only has five seats. Instead it simply offers much more boot space – 123-litres extra in fact. It’s could be seen as a strange decision, but in reality not many compact MPV’s are employed to transport more than four passengers regularly, and customers with busy lifestyles will appreciate the extra room for luggage. Based on the Golf Plus this model is the high powered 140 BHP Sport 6 speed

Having just received this outstanding Mini Cooper from it’s one local previous Lady owner it seems only fitting to write a Motoring review on this amazing convertible super compact car having enjoyed driving a few miles in preparation for it’s new owner.

Driving this vehicle is where the Mini convertible really scores in this competitive hot hatch market, simply because it is very nearly as good as the Coupe. Surprisingly so, in fact. It bounds into a corner with the kind of enthusiasm you get from small, yappy dogs when they go for the family guinea pig, or a teenage girl who’s just seen a new Top Shop across the road. The steering is nicely weighted, the suspension firm but well damped, making the Cooper a cracking hot hatch and fun to drive particularly with the roof down in the Summer.

The fun of owning a MINI continues to the retro-inspired interior with its enormous [...]

When is your timing belt due?

When it comes to car servicing, timing belt/cambelt replacement is without doubt the most important serviceable component of a car’s engine. The timing belt/cambelt has an incredibly important job controlling the camshafts in the engine and keeps it running smoothly, if left unchanged and it breaks, it can seriously lighten your wallet.

It is important that you know the change interval of your timing belt/cambelt as going over the manufacturers’ recommendation can lead to a slipped or snapped belt. In many cases this requires a new engine or engine build costing hundreds if not thousands of pounds.

You can rest assured all vehicles sold at Cheap Motoring have had the cam belts and serpentine belts replaced with quality components if due before sale.
