VW Polo TDI Timing Belt Service Interval

When Is My Volkswagen Diesel Cam Belt Kit Due?

Why does my cambelt need to be changed?
The cambelt is one of the hardest working parts in your engine, driving major parts of the engine and keeping everything synchronised. Changing it prevents snaps, cracks and tears which in turn minimises the risk of major engine damage.

What happens if it’s not changed?
The belt can go slack, making it snap or jump. This can cause severe damage to the engine. Your car will break down and could be very expensive to repair.
We strip down the relevant parts of the engine and renew the cambelt and cambelt tensioner. Then we reassemble the engine and road test your car on all vehicles supplied where the cam belt kit is due.

How often does it need to be changed?
4 – 5 years (4 years for cars registered before September 2009, 5 years thereafter). This may need to be changed sooner for [...]

The great value Seat Altea may be getting on a bit now, unveiled in 2003 and able to trace its roots right back to the Salsa concept car from the 2000 Geneva show, but that doesn’t mean it’s any less relevant. Based on the Golf Plus this model is the high powered 140 BHP Sport 6 speed

Unveiled in September 2001, the all-new Mark IV (or Typ 9N, sometimes erroneously referred to as the “Mark 6”) model was put on sale in early 2002. It shares its platform with the SEAT Ibiza Mk3, Škoda Fabia Mk1 and Škoda Fabia Mk2. The car is all new compared to the Mark III/F, and bears structural resemblance to Golf MK4 (1J). Outwardly the most recognisable change is the use of quad round headlights similar to the Lupo’s.

This Polo S TDI model with the economical and reliable 1422cc AMF engine is arguably one of the the best small car on sale in Britain in terms of build quality and “upmarket” feel. The 1.4 TDI was considered the best in the range due to its reliability, fuel consumption, and relative power, for a small engine returning
