Comments Off on VW Polo TDI Timing Belt Service Interval
Why does my cambelt need to be changed? The cambelt is one of the hardest working parts in your engine, driving major parts of the engine and keeping everything synchronised. Changing it prevents snaps, cracks and tears which in turn minimises the risk of major engine damage.
What happens if it’s not changed? The belt can go slack, making it snap or jump. This can cause severe damage to the engine. Your car will break down and could be very expensive to repair. We strip down the relevant parts of the engine and renew the cambelt and cambelt tensioner. Then we reassemble the engine and road test your car on all vehicles supplied where the cam belt kit is due.
How often does it need to be changed? 4 – 5 years (4 years for cars registered before September 2009, 5 years thereafter). This may need to be changed sooner for [...]
Comments Off on Seat Altea 140 BHP TDI MPV Performance With Style
The great value Seat Altea may be getting on a bit now, unveiled in 2003 and able to trace its roots right back to the Salsa concept car from the 2000 Geneva show, but that doesn’t mean it’s any less relevant. Even the introduction of the excellent Alhambra full-size MPV doesn’t detract from this car’s appeal.
Much like the Renault Scenic which started the compact MPV craze, the Altea is available in both standard and XL variants – though unlike its rival the larger Altea still only has five seats. Instead it simply offers much more boot space – 123-litres extra in fact. It’s could be seen as a strange decision, but in reality not many compact MPV’s are employed to transport more than four passengers regularly, and customers with busy lifestyles will appreciate the extra room for luggage. Based on the Golf Plus this model is the high powered 140 BHP Sport 6 speed
Timing belt replacement is crucial to the vehicle as if not replaced at the correct service interval it could potentially incur major damage to your vehicle engine if the belt snaps while in motion bending engine valves etc.. causing not just financial costs but also emotional whilst your vehicle is off the road.

When is your timing belt due?
When it comes to car servicing, timing belt/cambelt replacement is without doubt the most important serviceable component of a car’s engine. The timing belt/cambelt has an incredibly important job controlling the camshafts in the engine and keeps it running smoothly, if left unchanged and it breaks, it can seriously lighten your wallet.
It is important that you know the change interval of your timing belt/cambelt as going over the manufacturers’ recommendation can lead to a slipped or snapped belt. In many cases this requires a new engine or engine build costing hundreds if not thousands of pounds.
